Reel Set Up & Backing with Reel Purchase

Introduction

Do you reel with your RIGHT hand or your LEFT hand? Reels all come from the manufacturer set up for LEFT hand retrieve. IFyou would like the reel you are purchasing setup for right hand retrieve (wind) please choose right hand wind option and add to cart for check out. Choose the left hand wind option for a left hand set-up. Please note – this item is a courtesy reel set up and is only available with the online purchase of a reel or spool.

Reel set up includes 20lb or 30lb dacron backing loaded onto the reel in the direction you choose (the 1-cent Canadian cost protects this site from spam bots – thank you for your understanding). Reels spooled for freshwater in size 8 and up will be spooled with 30lb dacron unless otherwise directed. For no reel set up, simply continue shopping or proceed directly to cart.

• When no option is chosen, reels will ship as is (usually left hand retrieve and without backing).
• We have a variety of backing colors that rotate regularly. If you have preferences, please let us know in the “Notes for seller” box during checkout.
• Some reels specify “Right Hand” or “Left Hand” on their variant description, for example Nautilus NVG Reels or Islander MR2 – Please note that these reels are limited to the direction specified. You may still choose an option to add backing, or leave a note for us during checkout.
• Backing can be upgraded to Gel Spun for a cost. To add gel spun backing for saltwater setups or otherwise, click here.
