How To DropShot like a Pro

DropShottin’ is a proven technique for catching almost any species pretty much anytime of year which is why anglers adore the Dropshot Method!

When DropShotting, a Spinning Reel is highly recommended, this is primarily because DropShot setups are usually considered finesse and requires some long casts which Spinning Reels are the kings of casting finesse setups far far away!

To dropshot effectively, cast to your target area and let the rig sink to the bottom. The tungsten weight makes it easy to feel the bottom as its contact will reverberate up the line to the rod’s reel seat. Once on the bottom, slowly retrieve the rig, maintaining contact and dragging the setup towards you. Periodically incorporate subtle rod twitches or hops to add some action!

A bite usually feels like a noticeable increase in weight on your line. When you feel it, reel up into the fish. Light wire hooks, like the G-Finesse, penetrate easily with minimal force, so a strong hookset isn’t necessary.
